This has never been so important, since (I apologize) the new Academy gives an extremely unappealing feel of the game for new players.
I'm sorry, I don't want to seem rude, I want to be constructive because I care about this game and I think this is an emergency situation.
It's extremely important that you make absolutely CLEAR to new players that they are going to play this just to familiarize with the game (and EXACTLY when they're going to leave it), because right now it is not. This must be done IN-GAME and as quick as possible, if you want them to stay. Forums won't help.
Just consider that they're playing the same mode in the same small portion of the same map the whole time.
So knowing that they will leave the Academy soon, they might stay if they like the feel of the game, even if it may be not enough.
The previous Academy has been AWESOME for me. I loved the huge maps and Skirmish. Honestly, If I would be downloading the game right now for the first time, I would delete it immediately. When I first played this game I didn't get there was an Academy, I thought that was the game and nothing more.
I realized something changed seeing a Game mode selection and getting stomped match after match after match.
Right now I don't even feel like inviting my friends to try this game.
Additional possible suggestions:
-Bring back the previous Academy and to increase the WP limit. The first time I played I left the Academy with 600.000 SP and 3.30h of gameplay.
It doesn't last any longer right now, you play more matches but they are much faster as well. It "feels" a bit longer because you spend more time searching for batlles.
-If you're worried about Alts stomping in the Academy, then remove it completely. It should be still better than now.
However, I don't think new players will meet so many alts to have their experience completely ruined. Even if you find, let's say 2 alts in the same match, it can't be worst than being protostomped by 6-man squads the whole time... I believe.
I really hope you don't underestimate this. It's your game, after all.
